The signs near our house from all the road construction.
This morning I was in the shower and some one kept knocking on the door and yelling. I would shout, "I'm in the shower! I can't hear you! I'll be out in a minute!" Feeling rushed I hurried to finish and when I stepped out of the bathroom I said, "Who was banging on the door and yelling?" Alex said, "Logan." I found Logan and asked what he needed. He said, "I was going to ask if I could save my Pop Tart for later because I didn't eat it all." I stood there and looked at him. "That is what you were banging on the door and yelling about?" Logan looked at me as if I had lost my mind, shrugged his shoulders, and said, "It's a Pop Tart. It's very important!"
We managed to get out the door at a reasonable hour to run errands. Construction workers have been working on the road for a little over a week now--for some reason we always seem to forget until we walk out the front door or back the car out of the garage and see these lovely orange signs sitting in different areas of the streets. We managed to get off the street just fine and ran our errands. It's been hot outside and life has been fairly busy so the fun outings the boys and I had at the beginning of summer have started dwindling. Today I thought we could at least get the boys a slush from Sonic. They were excited about that and didn't care about the flavors of the slushes. They only cared about the colors. Alex also stumbled across some Toy Story puzzles and asked so sweetly if he could get one--we now own two new puzzles! It was a fun outing until we tried to come back home. I hit my turn signal to turn, but one lane was blocked by a "Road Closed" sign and a "Fresh Oil" sign and the other lane had a line of cars trying to get OFF the street. There were cars behind me and the whole situation was completely frustrating so I turned off my signal and hurried through the intersection to find another way home. I figured the street would be blocked off at the other end as well so I found a neighborhood street and followed it. Backtracking is not a fun thing to have to do. We drove by the men working and several big machines, which the boys enjoyed, of course. I guess the boys felt my frustration because when I turned off of the main street onto our street the boys both clapped and cheered. It is funny how there are days where even just going to run a few errands turns into an adventure. Oh, and apparently we had a ghost in the car at one point too--according to Logan, that is. I was driving down the road listening to music when Logan announces, "Mom, a ghost just took my shoe off." "What?" I said--I was only slightly laughing. "A ghost came into the car and took off my shoes and then flew away out of the car," Logan explained. By this point Alex was laughing too. I said, "Why would a ghost want to take off your shoes?" Logan said, "I don't know, he was just a silly ghost." When we pulled into the drive way Alex unbuckled his seat belt, stood up, and whispered in my ear, "Mom, Logan is lying. He took his shoes off, not a ghost." I laughed and said, "I know--Logan has a big imagination." Alex rolled his eyes and said, "Oh brother." I get such a kick out of both of them!
Once inside they sat down to enjoy their slushes from Sonic.
And the day goes on . . .
Cute! They are so entertaining!
ReplyDeleteI laughed all the time I was reading your post. The boys are cuties! Of course, I'm prejudiced.
