Rewind to April 26th ;)

April 26th was Logan's 5th birthday.  Between being busy and not feeling well I never got around to posting pictures or a blog about my sweet little boy and his special day.  So, I'm doing it now!

Logan on his birthday.  He had a little party at school and took some chocolate chip cupcakes to share with his classmates.  Here he is ready to take his treats to school!

Logan after school.  He got to be the line leader, take show and tell, and his teacher gave him a birthday crown (which he wore all day).  He had a really good day.  There were 4 cupcakes left and his teacher told me Logan asked if he could take them home.  He said, "There are enough for our family to have some for my birthday."  So, after dinner that night we all enjoyed a little chocolate chip cupcake for Logan's birthday.  His party is in a week, but I wanted to take a few minutes to share about his actual birthday.  I can't believe he is already 5!  Time has just flown by!

Happy Birthday, Logan!

Childrens Safety Village

Today was THE big field trip for all the kindergarteners at my boys' school.  The children were so excited about going on a field trip.  For many this was actually their first field trip.  Alex rode a bus for the first time today with his entire class and loved it.  My boys had a blast at the Childrens Safety Village and I could tell the other children were enjoying themselves as well.  The children learned about fire safety, helmet safety, car safety, railroad crossing safety, water safety, and street and bus safety.  The men who spoke to the children did a great job of making the experience fun.  At one point a fire fighter talked about life jackets and explained that you can't just use any life jacket.  He asked a boy to come up to the front and put an adult XL life jacket on the boy.  He talked about deep water and said, "Let's pretend he jumps in the deep water in this life jacket."  He asked the boy to lift up his arms and he pulled the life jacket off the boy and held it over his head.  He said, "Now the life jacket is floating on top of the water and what happened to the boy?"  Several children shouted, "He drowned."  The parents laughed because it is funny how literal children can be.  The fire fighter laughed and said, "I hope he doesn't drown!"

It was cold and wet--"soggy" as Logan called it--but it was fun.  I am glad I was able to experience this with my boys and some of the wonderful moms I have met.  I wanted to share some pictures with you all from our "adventure" (as Logan called it).

All the buildings are children sized--it was a really neat place.

Alex and Logan. They stayed together the entire time (they don't like each other at all).

More of the little village

The children each had a buddy and they were supposed to hold their buddy's hand. In this picture you can see Alex holding (his buddy) Jacob's hand on one side and Logan's hand on the other.

Can you tell he was having a blast?

Field trip is over.  Time to go home.  I took these two silly boys home with me. LOL

Falling Into Place

Today is a nice day.  The sun is shining--it's warm and pretty outside.  I haven't felt like enjoying it today, though.  We've been dealing with my body, which has a mind of it's own these days, and now I have a cold.  My mother keeps calling to tell me not to overdo it and, quite honestly, not overdoing it has been easy to do today.  I remember when I was pregnant with Logan and I would feel the need to lay down.  I would try to get Alex, who was still an infant, to lay down so I could lay down.  It never ended the way I wanted it to.  Now, the boys are bigger and I can give them crayons and paper, a board game, or blocks and I can lay down for an hour or so.  So today, between blowing my nose, trying to drink a lot of fluids, and getting extra hugs from two very sweet boys, I have managed to do pretty much nothing.  My wonderful husband has offered to bring pizza home for dinner so I A.) won't have to cook and B.) won't have a huge mess to clean up.

Logan asked me this morning if the baby was sick since I'm sick.  Alex started laughing and I said, "What, did you just imagine the baby sneezing and yelling, 'Mommy! I need a tissue!' like you do?"  He kept laughing and nodded.  They are very curious about the baby and are getting excited about it, which is cute.

Sometimes as adults (and as parents) you have moments in life where you sit down with your spouse and you talk about things going on in your world.  Jacob and I did this last night.  We talked about the big change that is coming our way--As Jacob said, I'm not going to get any less pregnant.  The two of us talked about things we needed for the baby and for our growing family.  The first step is to get bunk beds for the boys, which will happen this weekend.  We have a list of baby items we will need, but still have several months in which to purchase them.
One thing we both agreed on is that we need a bigger vehicle.  We discussed this last night and came up with a few changes we are going to be making in the near future to save us money each month and allow us to make a car payment comfortably.

We have some great people in our lives who have offered to give us things they no longer need for their children, such as car seats, strollers and baby clothes.  My mother even told me she wants to come up in a few weeks and take me shopping for maternity clothes.  She did this when I was pregnant with Alex as well and it's something I really appreciate!  Things are slowly falling into place and we're slowly wrapping our minds around the fact that by the end of the year we'll have a third child.

It's nice when things start to fall into place!

The Lost Boys

It has been a while since I've blogged.  A lot has been going on in our house.  We found out last week that even though we thought we were finished having children--we weren't finished.  Ha.  It took us some time to wrap our minds around this news.  The boys were opposed to it at first, but now are kissing my stomach and hugging it (trying to hug the baby).  Alex will rub my stomach and say, "Baby!"  Logan wants a little brother so he can have a big brother and a little brother.  Alex doesn't seem to care if it's a boy or a girl at this point.  We have had to make some decisions to make room for the baby but I think everything is starting to fall into place.

As for Alex and Logan--they keep telling me they don't want to grow up.  Sometimes tears are even involved and they'll come to me, out of the blue, and say, "I don't want to grow up, Mommy."  I assure them that they're still little boys and will be boys for a while longer.  I also know in the back of my mind that when the time comes to "grow up" they'll be ready for it.  I always think of the Lost Boys in Neverland when my boys start talking about how they never want to grow up.  Sometimes our house feels like Neverland with those two and their huge imaginations running around.

They are getting bunk beds this week and will be moved from their bedroom to the play room, which will now be their bedroom instead of the play room.  So far they seem excited about it.  I wonder how long this excitement will last.  Ha!

Until next time . . .
