Falling Into Place

Today is a nice day.  The sun is shining--it's warm and pretty outside.  I haven't felt like enjoying it today, though.  We've been dealing with my body, which has a mind of it's own these days, and now I have a cold.  My mother keeps calling to tell me not to overdo it and, quite honestly, not overdoing it has been easy to do today.  I remember when I was pregnant with Logan and I would feel the need to lay down.  I would try to get Alex, who was still an infant, to lay down so I could lay down.  It never ended the way I wanted it to.  Now, the boys are bigger and I can give them crayons and paper, a board game, or blocks and I can lay down for an hour or so.  So today, between blowing my nose, trying to drink a lot of fluids, and getting extra hugs from two very sweet boys, I have managed to do pretty much nothing.  My wonderful husband has offered to bring pizza home for dinner so I A.) won't have to cook and B.) won't have a huge mess to clean up.

Logan asked me this morning if the baby was sick since I'm sick.  Alex started laughing and I said, "What, did you just imagine the baby sneezing and yelling, 'Mommy! I need a tissue!' like you do?"  He kept laughing and nodded.  They are very curious about the baby and are getting excited about it, which is cute.

Sometimes as adults (and as parents) you have moments in life where you sit down with your spouse and you talk about things going on in your world.  Jacob and I did this last night.  We talked about the big change that is coming our way--As Jacob said, I'm not going to get any less pregnant.  The two of us talked about things we needed for the baby and for our growing family.  The first step is to get bunk beds for the boys, which will happen this weekend.  We have a list of baby items we will need, but still have several months in which to purchase them.
One thing we both agreed on is that we need a bigger vehicle.  We discussed this last night and came up with a few changes we are going to be making in the near future to save us money each month and allow us to make a car payment comfortably.

We have some great people in our lives who have offered to give us things they no longer need for their children, such as car seats, strollers and baby clothes.  My mother even told me she wants to come up in a few weeks and take me shopping for maternity clothes.  She did this when I was pregnant with Alex as well and it's something I really appreciate!  Things are slowly falling into place and we're slowly wrapping our minds around the fact that by the end of the year we'll have a third child.

It's nice when things start to fall into place!

  1. How funny! Logan thinks that the baby sneezes when you do! I'm glad that the boys are getting so excited about the baby.
