A Sleep Over On The Moon

The boys and I started the day with finger painting.  It was a lot of fun--I have always loved the way their artwork looks when they finger paint.  We mixed colors to see what would happen and then we read some books.  We are getting the boys' room ready for the arrival of Logan's big boy bed tomorrow. He has been waiting for this bed for a long time now and he is very excited.  We straightened up their room and moved some things to make room for Logan's bed.  The boys' play room was a huge mess so I told the boys they needed to clean it.  They did a great job and when it was about 80% clean I noticed that the boys had grown quiet.  I walked in the playroom to see what they were up to--they had taken a lot of their action figures and laid them on the sticker table.  Logan heard me walk in the room and said, "Look, mom, they're all friends."  I said, "They're friends?"  Logan said, "Yes, they are having a sleep over on the moon. Shhh! They're sleeping!" Alex pointed to the sticker table and said, "This is the moon." Logan went into a little speech about how the super heroes meet on the moon for a party and sleep over.  He said they eat moon cookies and drink moon milk.  Alex jumped in and said that they fill the moon with air to keep it big enough for them because the moon is like a balloon.  It was fun to just stand there and listen to them tell me all about what they were doing.  They created this whole other place and they were having a blast doing it!  I guess the action figures woke up after a few minutes of sleeping because Alex announced that they were about to play party games.  I am thankful that my boys have such big imaginations.  I love the many different things they come up with to play--they make up games and they'll pull out toys and just get lost in their own little world.  Logan is especially great at this. He will pretend to be something or some one and stay in character for hours.  He will go around the house talking to himself, because for the moment he isn't in our world, but in his own little world where he can be and do anything he wants to. I love that they are creative and I hope they continue to appreciate and enjoy art, literature, and music as they get older.  The boxing and wrestling and playing of sports I am certain will be a constant but hopefully their creative sides grow along with them.  I can't wait to follow them on their next adventure!
